Sternal Revision With High Thoracic Epidural Anesthesia: Case Report

In this study it is reported that the patient who had critic obstructions in his three coronary arteries have had coronary artery by pass grafting operation with extra corporeal circulation, after his discharge within the first clinical control sternal dehissence was assigned and with high thoracic epidural anesthesia sternal revison operation was managed. Because of the patient had coexisted chronic obstructive pulmonary disease after the anesthesiology consultation it is emphasized that the entubation carries the risk of late extubation. It is decided that the sternal revision operation in company with high thoracic epidural anesthesia. In this case report we intended to emphasize sternal revision operation with high thoracic epidural anesthesia in patients with accompanied pulmonary disease; the shorter length of intensive care unit staying and without entubation sternal revision operation managment with co-existed chronic obstuctive pulmonary disease.Keywords: Sternum; anesthesia, epiduralTurkiye Klinikleri J Cardiovasc Sci 2007, 19:190-192
